Rumour is he's sniffing around Lewes at the moment, now we're managerless, with his moneyed friends in tow.
Can anyone go into what happened to his takeover attempts at the Wells and why it collapsed in the end?
Am I right in being worried?

Am I right in being worried? Probably. I don't know all the details though, ask about on tonykempsters site, someones bound to have the full inside story. By the way, were my eyes deceiving me or did Lewes somehow manage to win recently?

Six months too late but there you go.

So whats with the recent run of form? New players/pressure off due to the relegation?
How do you think you will fare in the Conference South?

New manager/less pressure/new YTS kids from various clubs - plus Altrincham and Weymouth have both been even worse than us! That always helps I'm certainly not banking in being back in the BSS just yet - it could be a much longer drop for us. I imagine we'll be in the same position as last year - new manager, clear out of most of the players (or the highly paid ones anyway - Cullip is on £50,000 a year for example) and start from scratch. Your guess is as good as mine. We might stroll Sussex County 2 if we drop down there anyway!

We might stroll Sussex County 2 if we drop down there anyway! You should be so lucky! I still don't understand the whole fiasco though. Correct me if I'm wrong but I heard Lewes were paying through the nose for a Conference South championship winning side (I heard 10k a week ) only to realise the whole thing was not viable and risk dropping back further than you came from??? Very strange.

Quite - the Board only seemed to realise AFTER we had won the Connie South that our expenses might be shooting up! Quite why we'd been spending vast sums of money (certainly more than 10K a week) on a team that was trying to win is beyond me. Anyway, panic seemed to set in and they let Steve King and the players go seemingly on the flannel that Kevin Keehan had sold to them about making a go of it with primarily local players on a tiny budget. Never mind that Keehan was on £50,000 a year (substantially more than King was) and the more facts that come out suggest that the playing budget for most of this year was not actually that far off last seasons. It's all about favours for mates and relatives, Keehan being thingy Knight's nephew.
Where the problems have arisen is that the club has absolutely no idea how/no desire to provide a decent service to supporters - the bar has been closed or without beer for most games this year, the food and drink is utterly awful etc etc. More and more people have decided to spend their money elsewhere. There's not too much goodwill left from fans to Martin Elliott (owner and property developer) and whats left has been eroded by the lack of honesty from the remains of the Board about what the future holds.

OK, thanks for bringing me up to speed. There's not too much goodwill left from fans to Martin Elliott (owner and property developer) and whats left has been eroded by the lack of honesty from the remains of the Board about what the future holds. Its that part of the whole Lewes equation that would scare the bejebus out of me if I was a fan. Must be hurting to see Eastbourne doing so (comparatively) well.
